Best Glasses For Your Face Shape

For those of us fortunate enough to possess x-ray vision or just impeccable 20/20 vision, the opportunity to sport stylish statement lenses—also known as glasses—is a privilege.

Glasses come in a myriad of shapes, colors, sizes, and materials.

But amidst this abundance, how do you discern which pair best complements your features?

It's a well-known fact that glasses should accentuate your facial attributes.

Thus, here's a comprehensive guide on how to pinpoint the ideal glasses for your unique face shape.

Before diving into the realm of frame selection, start by gazing into the mirror.

With lipstick or eyeliner in hand, and hair pulled back to reveal your natural contours, outline the shape of your face.

Oh, and don't overlook the mirror maintenance—spritz a bit of glass cleaner and wipe it down with trusty old newspaper for a pristine finish.

Step back and scrutinize the shape you've sketched.

Is it rectangular, oval, diamond, oblong, square, round, or heart-shaped?

Once you've decoded your face shape, the exciting journey of finding the perfect frames begins.

Imagine you possess full, cherubic cheeks, a gentle chin line, and a forehead harmoniously proportioned in width and length.

My dear, you embody the delightful circle!

To accentuate your features, opt for glasses boasting strong, angular shapes or rectangular frames.

Steer clear of circular glasses reminiscent of those adorning Harry Potter's iconic look.

Now, picture yourself with a robust jawline and broad forehead, both impeccably proportioned in width and length.

Congratulations, you're a square—referring to your face shape, of course, not your personality!

Embrace your inherently high-fashion profile; your striking features demand glasses with softer, rounder frames.

Look for styles that sit elegantly high on your nose, elongating your face and achieving the perfect balance.

Eschew overly narrow frames that could disrupt this delicate equilibrium.

If your forehead and jawline mirror the elegance of a precious diamond, then you, my friend, boast a diamond-shaped face.

Capitalize on your delicate features by opting for playful cat-eye or oval-shaped frames.

These styles gracefully sweep upward, accentuating your cheekbones with finesse.

Steer clear of boxy, straight-across frames that might inadvertently widen your cheeks.

Keep it delicate yet sassy to complement your unique contours.

On the other hand, if your face appears longer than it is wide, resembling the timeless beauty of Liv Tyler's oblong profile, oversized glasses are your go-to.

Seek out frames that surpass the width of your face, offering ample room to play.

Rounder shapes with greater depth are ideal, providing a harmonious balance to your elongated features.

Avoid frames that are too diminutive or short, ensuring your glasses effortlessly enhance your distinctive charm.

Now, picture yourself with a robust jawline, yet your face elongates more than it widens.

In this case, you boast a rectangle face shape.

Embrace your facial contours by opting for curvy and oval glasses, similar to those recommended for square face shapes.

However, unlike square shapes, wider glasses provide a more flattering contrast to your bold features.

Avoid rectangular frames, as they may accentuate the length of your face.

On the other hand, if you possess a broad forehead and prominent cheekbones tapering to a narrow chin, you exude softness and delicacy akin to a heart shape.

Rimless frames are your ultimate accessory, imparting an air of elegance.

Look for thin, light metal or clear plastic frames to maintain the delicate balance of your features.

Steer clear of overly embellished or heavy glasses, as they might overwhelm your face.

Your frames should aim to soften your strong features, rather than accentuating them further.

Now, if your forehead, jaw, and chin are all proportionate, congratulations—you have an oval face shape!

This versatile shape allows you to experiment with almost any frame style with confidence.

Have fun exploring various shapes and designs; however, remember a simple rule of thumb: the more angular your features, the rounder your glasses should be, and vice versa.

With your new glasses, prepare to embark on a journey of self-discovery, feeling and seeing like a rejuvenated version of yourself.

The impact of lighting on my frames can sometimes cast shadows under my eyes, making concealing essential.

Opting for a heavy-coverage concealer brightens up the eyes, ensuring a fresh and awake appearance.

Personally, I rely on my own concealer creation, aptly named the "Gray Cover-Up," which effectively camouflages any signs of sleep deprivation.

Do you ever encounter the annoyance of mascara-laden lashes sticking to your lenses?

I certainly do! To combat this, I start by lining my eyes before applying mascara.

Additionally, brightening the waterline with a peach or rose gold color imparts a refreshing allure to the eyes, combating any signs of fatigue.

Give this technique a try for a vibrant and rejuvenated look.

Moreover, since I've opted not to wear mascara, I can afford to be a tad more daring with my eyeliner.

Odd as it may sound, wearing glasses allows for bolder eyeliner looks compared to when going without.

Consider your glasses as a picture frame—the larger the frame, the better you'll see the picture.

As for my brows, I prefer to tailor their shape to complement the frame style.

If my glasses boast a boxy design, I opt for straighter and more angular brows to harmonize with the geometric lines.

Conversely, if my frames are round, I ensure my brows are fuller and softer, providing a balanced contrast to the curves.

It's all about creating a harmonious interplay between facial features and frames for a polished and cohesive look.

Finally, I complete my routine by contouring my nose, enhancing facial definition and drawing attention back to my eyes—the focal point of my look.

A touch of contouring can work wonders, subtly transforming your appearance.

For a foolproof eyeshadow palette, I recommend sticking with earth tones such as taupe, soft browns, and nude shades.

These versatile colors effortlessly complement any frame style, ensuring a timeless and sophisticated look.

While bright and loud colors are tempting to experiment with, remember that the intensity of your eye makeup should be balanced with the boldness of your frames.

So, go ahead and have fun experimenting with different frames and eye makeup combinations.

You'll never truly appreciate the magic until you try it.

Enjoy the journey, cutie!
